How do you know if you’re suffering from Psychological Trauma?

Symptoms of psychological trauma:

During a time like this our behaviours and the way we think, feel and act, change. This may interfere with our functioning at home or work. We may feel:

 Anxiety or fear
 Shock or denial
 Flashbacks, nightmares, insomnia
Panic attacks or shortness of breath
 Anger, rage, irritability, mood swings
 Upsetting emotions
 Guilt, shame, self-blame
Feeling sad, hopeless or emotional numbing
 Difficulties with self-regulation or concentration
Feel isolated, withdrawing or consumed with negative thoughts
 Self-doubt, low self-esteem, feel ‘stuck’
 Imposter syndrome
If your symptoms don’t ease up or become worse, you may be suffering from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)

What is a traumatic memory or event?

What we look for

Trauma is the experience of feeling overwhelmed with a sense that our safety, security and survival are under threat
Any difficult or negative memory or event that leaves you feeling overwhelmed and changes the way we believe about ourselves and causes a lasting impact on our mental and emotional stability

Some common causes of trauma include:

Witnessing an act of violence or tragic event
 Serious assault, illness or accident
Emotional abuse (including bullying or humiliation) or some other terrifying event that left you feeling a deep sense of upset or fear
Sudden life changing event including career change, retirement, loss of a loved one or ending of a close relationship, financial setback
Any distressing event that results in lasting severe upset

Trauma may result in challenges coping or functioning normally after the event and some may turn to addictive or destructive behaviours such as drug or alcohol abuse, overspending or gambling, eating disorders or defensive behaviours
All of us experience trauma at some point in our lives. Any past event that is upsetting or still disturbs you is trauma, and this can vary from person to person. Recent or childhood distress can cause adverse experiences

Traumatic events can occur at any age and can cause long-term harm. We are shaped by our early experiences and certain triggers can cause us to feel stuck. Many people are bound by the past or they have a block to realising their full potential, be it in sports, relationships, business or personal life

Is this you?

You are not alone. We can help you

There is so much trauma worldwide. Around 1 in 3 adults in England report having experienced a traumatic event (according to the Mental Health Foundation). While many traumatic experiences may be processed naturally, some may not be processed without help. When distress from a disturbing event remains the distressing thoughts, images and emotions may create feelings of being stuck, not able to cope or overwhelmed

How can you recover?

Recovery

Our bodies and minds carry the history of our life experiences. We are designed to experience, endure and survive traumatic experiences

We facilitate your brain’s natural process to recover from traumatic memories and events. Our Reset Therapy can help you move past and process the traumatic memories and enable normal healing, so your brain no longer reacts as if it is still in danger. The experience is still remembered but the nervous system and fight, flight, freeze response is settled

The first person to approach might be your family doctor who should be able to give advice about treatment. Many don’t realise that help is out there, but it is. What do you need to confront? What is stopping you? Take the first step, reach out to see how we can help you…
